DramaMatch ("we," "us," "the app") is a K-drama recommendation app for iOS and Android.
This page explains what data the app collects, why, and how it's used. DramaMatch is
currently in private beta.
What we collect
- An anonymous device identifier — a random ID generated on first launch and stored on your device. It is not linked to your name, email, or any account (DramaMatch does not currently have user accounts or sign-in).
- App activity — anonymized events such as app opens, onboarding completion, recommendations served, ratings/verdicts you give on dramas, and dramas you save. These are tied only to the anonymous device ID above, never to your identity.
- Your taste inputs — the drama ratings, mood selections, and preferences you provide during onboarding and while using the app, used to personalize your recommendations.
- Bug reports — if you use the in-app "Report a Bug" feature, we collect the description you write plus basic device context (platform, OS version, app version, language).
- Crash and error data — technical information if the app crashes or a request fails, used only to fix bugs.
We do not collect your name, email address, contacts, location, or photos. We do not
require account creation or sign-in to use DramaMatch.
How your data is used
- To generate personalized drama recommendations (your preferences are sent to our AI provider, Anthropic, solely to produce your recommendations — see below).
- To fetch drama artwork and metadata from The Movie Database (TMDB).
- To improve app performance and fix bugs.
- To understand overall, anonymized usage patterns (e.g. how many people complete onboarding) — never to build a profile tied to your real-world identity.
Third parties we use
- Anthropic (Claude API) — processes your taste preferences to generate recommendation text. Your device ID is not shared with Anthropic in a way that identifies you personally.
- Supabase — hosts our database (anonymous usage events, bug reports, and a shared cache of drama information used to speed up the app for everyone).
- The Movie Database (TMDB) — supplies drama posters, trailers, and metadata.
We do not sell your data. We do not use third-party advertising or ad-tracking networks.
Data retention
App activity and preferences are stored on your device (and, where noted above, in our
backend under your anonymous device ID) for as long as you use the app. You can clear
this at any time by uninstalling the app.
Children's privacy
DramaMatch is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data
from children under 13.
Your choices
Since DramaMatch doesn't use accounts, there's no login data to delete — uninstalling
the app removes your local data. To have your anonymous backend data deleted, see our
data deletion instructions.
Changes to this policy
As DramaMatch adds features (such as accounts or push notifications), this policy will be
updated accordingly, and the "Last updated" date above will change.
